Hola! My name is Carlos Pérez but my students call me Mr. Carlos.
I was born in Colombia. I spent my childhood there in a big and bustling city until by luck and destiny my family and I moved to the United States when I was twelve. I did my University studies in Fine Arts at the University of New Mexico, in the south western state of New Mexico.
About ten years ago, I moved to Spain where I have started a family among other adventures. I have continued my work and interest in collaboration since moving the north of Spain. Since I arrived I have started my own artist's workshop where I collaborate with artist from different places.
Parallel to my workshop I have been collaborating with an English academy. I was introduced to the Sprout program by a friend. I find the idea of connecting over such a new and powerful media like the internet really rewarding for both my students and me. I have found the children really interested and motivated in learning and interacting with each other as well as with me in a different language.
This project is a great opportunity to link teachers and students with all kinds of interests and backgrounds. That makes it a great opportunity to grow and learn not only a new language but how to interact with people from different cultures from all around the world. I hope the students who take my course see the power of using a language such as Spanish and how that can bring those experiences about culture from so many different countries from all around the world.
