My name is Rachelle and I am currently a High School Biology Teacher in the state of California in United States. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences obtained from University of California, Irvine and a Masters of Arts degree in Education with a Single Subject Biology and Geosciences credential obtained from Pepperdine University Graduate School for Education and Psychology.
As a Biological Sciences major at UC Irvine, I pursued an extensive course of study that provided me with a significant understanding of the arts and sciences.
Through my graduate studies at Pepperdine University, I immediately implemented the educational practices and learning theories in the classroom to address multiple intelligences. Pepperdine University utilizes the scholar-¬‐practitioner model while instilling its mission of purpose, service, and leadership, which, is a true reflection of my own educational mission.
I have worked with students of all types in diverse situations especially in the under-served communities. This interest escalated after my experience in Peru as an international volunteer where I worked with the people of the impoverished town of Ayacucho. I became immersed in their culture and continued to develop my communication skills in the Spanish language. A domino effect began as I participated in numerous community-¬‐based projects at UC Irvine and became
active in local community organizations.
My involvement with the community has enabled me to challenge myself and has increased my desire to continue in the profession as an educator so I am excited to be part of the Sprout Online School team.
