Ni Hao! My name is Steven Salas but my students like to call me just "Steve." I am new to the Sprout team but I come with over 30 years of teaching experience. In fact, I began helping others excel in their academics in my teens as a tutor in high school and then college. I continued to exceed in this field by assisting children as well as adults in a wide variety of subjects. While managing the Training and Development Dept of Bank of America, I was and continue
to be a volunteer Teacher and Tutor at my local elementary school as well as the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House. My specialty is teaching English, Reading and Mathematics. Because of my experience, I am keenly aware of the individual challenges accompanying learning anything new; especially a new language. My method varies student by student and class by class. I utilize a varied approach built on compassion, repetition and positive feedback. I thrive on teaching
through a "hands-on" approach filled with enthusiasm, fun and laughter.
I graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles, (UCLA) with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and Philosophy. Although my original intention was to study Law, I found my true calling in teaching. So I pursued my Masters in Education.
I look forward to teaching your children everything I can, to ensure their growth in knowledge.
